iPhone 1.1.2 OOB Jailbreak Instructions for Activated iPhone

So I got an iPhone recently, and I gotta say it's pretty badass, but because it is made by Apple it is severely crippled until you jailbreak it.

These instructions are for already activated iPhone's that have version 1.1.2 out of the box.

Things you will need:

  • A computer (With windows xp or vista 32 bit)
  • Internet access
  • Wifi access
  • iTunes
  • USB Cable for iPhone
1. Download these:
2. Run iTunes and plug in ur iPhone
3. Select the iPhone under devices, click on the summary tab.
4. SHIFT+Click the 'Restore' button
5. Browse to and select the 1.1.1 firmware. Click open. Wait for it to complete. Once completed the iPhone will reboot and go into recovery mode (Cable with iTunes CD icon will be displayed on the screen.)
6. Close iTunes.
7. Exctract the Jailbreak 1.1.2 zip and double-click on 'windows.bat'.
8. Click boot from recovery. This will boot your phone into 1.1.1. Click cancel and close the program and/or the command prompt window after your iPhone reboots.
9. Open up iTunes and wait for it to detect the iPhone and restore your settings. You will notice that you get a notice saying 'Waiting for activation'. You can still use the iPhone but it cannot call.
10. Unplug the iPhone, set up a Wifi connection if you don't have one already, open Safari, goto http://jailbreakme.com
11. Scroll down and click 'Install AppSnap' This will install the packaging system on your iPhone but will not get it to work yet. After it is installed, you will have a new icon on the main menu.
12. Click the installer icon on the main menu.
13. Install all the updates under the update tab.
14. Click on the install tab, select 'System', install 'BSD Subsystem'
15. Click on the install tab, select 'Tweaks (1.1.1)', install 'OktoPrep'
16. Turn the iPhone off then on again. (Hold the power button until the slider appears, slide it)
17. Plug it in, open iTunes, you should get a message saying there is a new verion available (1.1.2).
18. SHIFT-Click the 'Restore' button. Select the 1.1.2 firmware and click open. This will upgrade your phone back up to 1.1.2. Once complete your iPhone will be functional again. Wait for setup to complete and your iPhone settings to be restored. Your iPhone may be rebooted.

*Continue if the Installer is not on your phone anymore. If its still there after the restore to 1.1.2 then you are all done

19. Go back to the Jailbreak 1.1.2 package and double-click 'window.bat' again.
20. Check Install SSH, leave password as alpine, and click 'Jailbreak'. This will upload the AppSnap installer, and patch the firmware, after the reboot you should have a fully functional version of 1.1.2, and Installer.

These tools may also be helpful if your process is different for any reason. If you get different results then you may have to just try stuff.

If you get stuck then you can always click the restore button and upgrade to the newest firmware. But beware you may not be able to go back to 1.1.2 from 1.1.3.
